Methods for the synthesis of sodium acetate.

1. Place trisodium acetate in a porcelain dish and heat at 120°C until a dry, white substance is obtained, which is anhydrous sodium acetate.
In organic synthesis, such as the preparation of methane by fusing anhydrous sodium acetate and soda lime, the anhydrous sodium acetate used should be prepared immediately before use. Place an appropriate amount of trisodium acetate in a porcelain evaporating dish, heat to approximately 58°C under glass rod stirring. The trisodium acetate will dissolve in the water of crystallization, and as the water gradually evaporates, a white solid will be obtained, at which point the temperature will be approximately 120°C. Continue heating until the solid melts, but do not exceed the melting point of trisodium acetate (324°C) to prevent the sodium acetate from decomposing into acetone and sodium carbonate. Allow it to cool slightly while stirring, then grind it finely in a mortar while still hot, and immediately store it in a sealed container for future use.

2. The process involves neutralizing acetic acid with crystalline sodium carbonate, followed by filtration, evaporation, cooling, and crystallization. The resulting crystals are then dried at room temperature.
3. Produced by treating calcium acetate with sodium sulfate and sodium bicarbonate.
4. There are several methods for producing sodium acetate. It can be obtained by reacting dilute acetic acid or calcium acetate with sodium carbonate, or by double decomposition of sodium sulfate and calcium acetate. Industrially, sodium acetate is also commonly recovered from waste materials from pharmaceutical and fragrance factories.
Pour 628 kg of dilute acetic acid into the reactor, and add 200 kg of soda ash to the reactor in portions. Without stirring, start the induced draft fan to draw air. After the reaction stabilizes, start the agitator to ensure complete reaction between the soda ash and acetic acid. Then, pump the mixture into the evaporator, heat, and concentrate until the liquid density reaches 1.24 g/cm3, at which point heating is stopped. After filtration, pump the reaction liquid into the crystallizer, adjust the pH to 9.2 using NaOH, and cool to 35°C to induce crystallization. Remove the surface mother liquor and centrifuge the crystals to obtain 350 kg of white powder product. The yield per batch is approximately 70%.
