The Role of Industrial Glucose
2023-12-27
1. In the pharmaceutical field, it is used to regulate the acid-base balance in the human body, thereby restoring normal nerve function. For the same purpose, it is also used as a food additive.
2. Used as a water stabilizer, its superior performance is evident in the following aspects:
⑴ Exhibits a significant synergistic effect, making it suitable for use in various formulations containing molybdenum, silicon, phosphorus, tungsten, and nitrites. This synergistic effect enhances the corrosion inhibition performance considerably.
⑵Unlike conventional corrosion inhibitors, the corrosion inhibition rate increases with rising temperature.
⑶ Technical requirements for anti-scaling performance: The product must exhibit strong complexing ability against calcium, magnesium, and iron salts, with particularly excellent chelating action on Fe3+.
(4) As a recirculating cooling water corrosion and scale inhibitor, its performance is unmatched by other inhibitors currently in use, effectively eliminating public health hazards.
3. Suitable for the food industry, sodium gluconate can be used as a food additive due to its effectiveness in preventing hyponatremia. Both sodium gluconate and potassium gluconate possess excellent taste-enhancing properties. Sodium gluconate is non-irritating and lacks a bitter taste; its salty taste is similar to that of table salt, and its threshold value is significantly higher than other organic acid salts, being five times that of table salt (inorganic salt), 2.6 times that of sodium malate, and 16.3 times that of sodium lactate. In food processing, sodium gluconate and potassium gluconate are used to regulate pH, improve the flavor of food, and replace table salt in the production of healthier low-sodium or salt-free (sodium chloride-free) foods, thereby contributing significantly to improving human health and enriching people's lives.
4. During the wastewater treatment commissioning phase, adding industrial glucose and other substances provides a carbon source, which helps cultivate bacteria and improve the biodegradability of the wastewater. If the COD and BOD levels in the operating system are insufficient to support the growth and reproduction of the microbial population, additional substances must be added to prevent sludge aging and reduced biological activity.
5. Glucose can be directly used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. In the textile and leather industries, it serves as a reducing agent. It is also commonly used as a reducing agent in the mirror manufacturing industry and in the silvering process for vacuum flasks. Industrially, glucose is widely used as a raw material for the synthesis of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid).
